This project looks at both drag and Chinese aesthetics, sharing vocabularies of movement and mother tongue. I ( 顧眉, AKA Deuce Lee ) explored my relationship to my mother Joy ( 陳愉 ) through a long-distance film. I wanted to create belonging — both in my mixed-ness and queerness — via film and in familial relationship.

We began this project by sharing hours of conversation, storytelling, and ideas. This film has emerged as an homage to Joy's journey as an individual from China into motherhood; and is the first of many more projects together.
